BRIEF PROFILE :
Established in 2008. As there is a growing need for English literature and language, it had been started to carter the demands of the students in the present and in the future. The department has the unique pride of serving rural students from economically backward & socially challenged. It is privileged to have students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and learning curves. Amble opportunities, care, platforms and exercises are given to the students to make themselves unique in this fast world.
Vision
The Vision of the Department is to develop the department as a centre for academic excellence through teaching and research that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities, language competence and critical thinking and train them to meet new challenges of a global, interdependent, multicultural and technologically advanced society.
Mission
The Mission of the Department is to offer advanced, career-oriented post graduate and research programmes imparting professional knowledge, employability and life skills, as well as inculcating a vision of community growth and development and strong ethical values. The Department will attempt to provide learning and research opportunities in the following Thrust Areas: Interdisciplinary Studies, New literatures in English, Technology in Language Teaching, Modern and Postmodern Literatures, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Translation Studies, Sociolinguistics and Film Studies. The Department employs innovative and technology enhanced pedagogies, interdisciplinary approaches, field work and project based learning toward building strong foundation of literary sensibilities and language competence.

Uniqueness of the Department
A special coaching is conducted to the students for the Enrichment of their Verbal Communication. An Exclusive training is provided by the department for molding students’ talent through their Stage Performance. An innovative practice is enhanced throughout the year to elicit the inner creativity concealed inside the students. The curriculum also offers to develop employability skills and soft skills for the better future of the students. Each course of the curriculum offers for the development of subject knowledge, employability, creativity, analysis and application.
