BRIEF PROFILE :
Raichur University is a public university. Before becoming a university, Raichur
University was first a postgraduate center of Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. The University is under the National Grants Commission, the University started in 2021, three years have passed today. Since then the field of sociology has been working with various objectives. Earlier in 2017, the Department of Sociology was under the purview of Gulbarga University. Besides, the University is working towards building and developing various departments with the motto of Immortality through Education. Department of Sociology is one of them. The University has Sociology Centers under Yadgiri, Gurmitkal, Sindhanur, Shorapur and SECT.
Vision & Mission
Vision
The Department of Sociology in the MA Sociology degree at the university is unique and varied. Sociology aims to enable students to understand and research social issues and environment along with the teaching of sociology subject. It also carries the hope of inculcating social values and leadership qualities.
Mission
The mission of the department is to develop critical thinking skills in students. To increase the importance of reading and writing in students through teaching and research and to make them socially concerned.
